I am torn between living alone and living with a flatmate to help split the costs.
The only problem with having a flatmate is I don’t have a lot of privacy and can’t have dinner parties like I used to when I lived alone. It is the summer season now and I would like to have my own place so I can have my peace, but I would have to pay $600 more a month if I lived alone. I guess I will decide how much money I have and if it won’t stress me out too much. Air conditioning and heating cost a lot of money to run during the hot and cold months, and having someone help me out each month takes away some of the financial strain. But I guess if my stock takes a nice jump and they start making money then I won’t have to worry so much when it comes to paying bills each month. I will work more for the local contractor if I have to when living alone and then it won’t matter if I have a flatmate or not. I almost make enough now to live alone without any issues, but I want to make sure that my job is stable and that I will not have any problems if I decide to live on my own. The heating supplier where I work can probably also give me more hours, which should help offset the higher cost of living alone. Then maybe my girlfriend could move in down the road once we are more established.
