Do you ever forget something really important and then feel like a total fool and a failure for it? I know, that’s a little intense, but I think it happens to all of us sometimes.
The thing that happened to me recently that made me really frustrated with my poor memory was failing to get my air conditioner worked on before the summer months came. That effectively made it a whole year since my air conditioner had been checked out by a professional. Admittedly, you can skate through the summer with your HVAC system having not been looked at for over a year, but it’s definitely something you don’t want to risk. In my case, my air conditioner needed that maintenance call and it did not get it. As a result, on one day during which temperatures rose into the triple digits in the afternoon, not only had I forgotten to call out an HVAC technician long before the summer had come, but I also had left the air conditioner running in the ’60s! My air conditioner was working way too hard to try and maintain 60° temperatures when it was triple digit weather outside! My air conditioner strained too hard and shut off! Now I would definitely be calling out an HVAC technician, but the repairs would be far more expensive than the proactive maintenance work that I should have scheduled! I swear that I need to start writing this stuff down in a planner so that I don’t forget it. Better yet I should probably enroll in an HVAC service plan so the appointments are pre scheduled for the year even starts!
