There is definitely no question that I am all about saving money this year.
With the economic fallout from the pandemic, we are cutting our spending just about anywhere we are able to.
I was raised to be sure that the necessities came first and anything else was a bonus. My dad set that example by making sure he got the most out of every dollar he spent. The man actually bought a cover for the HVAC so he could keep us from changing the setting. I haven’t gotten to that level quite yet. But, there is plenty of dirty looks I get from my household over my cost cutting. Yet, my family is pretty good about it all and understands that I’m just making sure that our spending matches our income. Like, I have enough money to get the lawn done by a crew. But, there is no way I would ever pay for that. Same way with the HVAC. Sure, we could waste our money on ridiculous HVAC settings. However, I prefer for us to save that money and spend it on other things for the family. There is a line though. I’m not so cost conscious that I would put any of our important stuff in jeopardy. Lately, the HVAC tech told us we had to replace a major component in the HVAC. It was not going to be cheap. Still, there is no way I would even consider trying to cut that sort of cost. I’m not about to let anyone but a certified, licensed HVAC tech work on my heating & cooling system. It’s just too important to us.
