We have been thinking about putting an addition onto our house for years.
- We’ve been living here for about ten years now, but ever since we moved in, we knew that we were eventually going to have to have more space for our family to spread out in.
At the time that we moved in, we only had one child. Now, we have four and space is definitely starting to be at a premium for us! So we have finally started talking to a builder and to an HVAC contractor about getting the work underway. We know what we want and we even have a blueprint made up already. We just don’t know what we should do about the heating and cooling system for the addition. It’s going to be an issue, I’m afraid. Right now, we have an HVAC system that is just the right size for heating and cooling our existing living space. When we add on a whole bunch of additional living areas, it’s going to wreak havoc on our existing HVAC system. There’s no way that our tiny little HVAC system is going to be able to keep up with the demand for all of the new space that we are going to be adding on. The HVAC contractor has told us that it would be a good idea to upgrade our existing HVAC system to a much more powerful one that would be able to handle the additional space. We are going to have to run new ventilation ducts anyway, so that would probably be the best idea for us going forward.
